COM 325 / Week #10 Discussion: Let's start to be a little judgmental

People around the world all seem to have very strong opinions in regard to how we should take care of our body. Our textbook lists three traditions in health care: the supernatural tradition, the holistic tradition, and the scientific--that is, our--tradition. When I was a young country boy, my mother used to resort to chanting "spells" to get me to feel better. And it worked! So, I am a little superstitious when it comes to health care. How about you?

  1. I thought I posted this earlier, but went to look and it wasn't there! So here it goes again.

I do agree, I feel like people no matter who you talk to, always have their own opinions of how you should take care of your body. One thing I noticed, especially when I was pregnant, was that when people noticed I was pregnant they would feel free to tell me all about what they did when they were pregnant, and what they ate, and how much they exercised, and all the weight they gained. And whenever I would tell them how much weight I had gained, or that I really wasn't exercising much they would kind of scowl at me like I was lesser than them or something. Same goes for healthcare, it seems that someone is always having some way that they think you should be taking care of your body. Personally, I think it's totally up to you, and shouldn't be anyone elses' business how you take care of your body.
